The hype of the new Netflix comedy rom com ‘Emily in Paris’ is not coming to a halt. The show received a lot of criticism and hate but still continues to be the most watched show this fall. Even the critics claim to not have been able to stop watching it. However to me, Emily in Paris proved to be an escape from life’s current adversities and just the feel-good show I needed! I managed to finish this show in less than 24 hours because I JUST COULDN’T STOP WATCHING IT
So what makes this show so binge-able? Apart from the picturesque locations, extravagant outfits and a good looking cast. I think what makes this show truly binge-able is how much we girls can relate to the character of Emily. So we came up with a list of characteristics of Emily we could relate to the most. If you can relate to most of the things mentioned below, then welcome to the gang!
- Just an ordinary girl with big dreams
Emily is Independent! She’s motivated! Emily won’t let anything or anyone get in the way of achieving her dreams, not her unsupportive boyfriend and not even her complete lack of knowledge of the native language of Paris, French. Well working at a well-known firm in a country and not knowing their native language could be a problem- but not for Emily. If you’re this determined then count your point!
- You. Just. Can’t. Resist. Food
Let’s be real that’s all of us! You go to parties just for the food and when the food is exceptionally appetizing and the urge too strong, only your amma’s hair-raising gaze can make you stop eating.
- All about the gram life
When you find something fascinating, if the first you want to do is take a picture of it and share it with your friends on instagram or if you’re all about the ‘blogger life’ then count your point! To be honest the only thing about Emily I cannot relate to how quickly she comes up with instagram captions, we spend weeks trying to come up with a good caption and end up captioning our pictures with an emoji
- You run away from life and its problems
When life gives you lemons, RUN AWAY SIS!
When you reach a point where life and its problems are too much to handle, you run away from them instead of dealing with them. In my opinion, it’s healthy to escape life and run away from the feelings that displease you once in a while but unhealthy when ignoring problems becomes a norm
- Xoxo, gossip girl
Just like Emily, you’re obsessed with gossip girl and you admire Serena’s (Blake Lively) extravagant clothing. Wellll, we may be broke in real life but we are all a Serena at heart
- Feminist AF
Whether you consider yourself a feminist or not, when you see injustices being done to another woman, it stirs your blood. You don’t mind showing a man his place when he disrespects you or another woman, by speaking up against it.
- Your friends and their excuses
It’s impossible for your plans of hanging out with you friends, to be successful. You have the most topi-baz friends. Just like Emily’s colleagues, your friends come up with the lamest excuses. Your friends either fall sick or become poor when you want to go out to have fun
- You can’t stop daydreaming about Emily’s attractive neighbor
If you’ve seen the show, you know how real the obsession is! An exceptional chef with a kind soul and extraordinary good looks, a man straight out of your dreams!
- The CEO of embarrassing yourself in pubic
If you had a rupee for every time you embarrassed yourself in pubic, you’d probably be a millionaire
The bottom line is if you think of yourself as Emily, you should embrace your flaws because they make you, YOU. You should work towards your goal and no matter the circumstances, don’t give up
