Archie Comics have signed a contract with Graphics India to produce a joint venture – Bollywood style. This means our favourite childhood stars, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose and Jughead, will be on Netflix soon.
Archie Comics in Bollywood
This production is the first of its kind – first time ever that the translation of an international comic to Indian cinema takes the world by storm. First time, Archie comics characters will emerge on Indian screens as Indian actors. Before this, Archie comics characters were depicted in the hit TV adaptation Riverdale of 2017.
The screenplay of this project is in the early stages of its production. Both the companies, Graphics India and Archie Comics, are excited at this venture.
CEO of Archie Comics, Jon Goldwater exclaims, “Archie’s lasting and growing presence in India made this move the logical next step as our stellar library of characters continues to expand into other media. It’s a major moment for Archie and his fans around the world.”
Further, CEO of Graphics India, Sharad Devarajan, elaborated ,
“Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead have been a source of inspiration for numerous Bollywood films over the years, and now it’s time to take them fully into Bollywood in an exciting new twist of a story that we have planned…”
Thus, the hit Archie Comics, with over two billion copies sold worldwide, is a promising project in Bollywood. It just needs the right cast.
Indian Actors to Star in the Role
And who could be more ideal than Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, as Veronica and Khushi, daughter of Sri Devi, as Betty? It is said Ibrahim, Saif Ali Khan’s son, will star as Archie. It is amazing to see all young actors to play their debut roles for this debut venture. Moreover, the Indian showing of Archie will be based on the Riverdale series. Zoya Akhter will be directing this Netflix drama, which is supposed to air in 2022.
Takeaway
It is unclear whether this production will be a series or a movie – whatever it will be, we are looking forward to this innovation for sure.
