Babar Azam has been continuously talked about as one of the best batsmen in the game. And he continued to show his pedigree in international cricket. Now Babar has added another feather to his illustrious cap. As he became the fastest men’s cricketer to score 13th centuries in ODI cricket.

Babar Azam is all set to dethrone Virat Kohli. And become the number one ranked batsmen in the One Day Internationals for the first time in his career. Pakistan’s skipper brilliant 94 in the third and final ODI against South Africa. Will propel him above Virat Kohli when the ICC rankings are announced next week.

Before yesterday’s game, Babar Azam was on 852 ranking points, just five ranking points behind Virat Kohli.
At the start of the series against South Africa. Azam was more than 30 points behind Kohli in the ICC ODI rankings. But with a century in the 1st ODI and 31 runs knock in the 2nd ODI. He closed the gap to just five points.

The 26-year-old will be the first Pakistani batsmen to achieve this feat in the format after Muhammad Yousuf. Who topped the ranking charts way back in 2003. Babar has featured in 78 ODI’s for Pakistan and thus far amassed 3,808 runs at an amazing average of 56.83.
Babar is currently the highest ranked batsman in the world with 3rd in T20Is and 6th in Tests.

His ODI average (56.83) is second-best presently (50 or more matches) after that of Kohli (59.07).
In 80 matches, Babar has smashed 3,808 runs with 13 hundreds. And now, he is set to become the number one ODI batsman.

After an incredible run in the 1st ODI and 94 in the 3rd ODI. Both facing South Africa in Centurion, Pakistan captain Babar Azam guaranteed overhauling Virat Kohli as World’s No. 1 ODI Batsman in the ICC ODI Rankings. Babar Azam was the second-highest scorer in the series with 228 runs, only behind Fakhar Zaman’s 302.

The captain took to Twitter to express his joy at the series win. Hallowing his victory to Pakistan, and noted just how superbly teammate Fakhar Zaman played throughout the series.
At the moment, Kohli leads the ICC ODI Batting Rankings with 857 points. His counterpart Babar follows him at number two (852). Notably, India aren’t scheduled to play ODI cricket in the upcoming months. This could allow Babar to retain the top spot for long.
Innings:
3rd ODI: Babar made an impact with his defiant 94. Babar played a solid knock in the third ODI after openers Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman shared a century-stand. Although Babar missed out on a 14th ODI ton, his 94-run innings certainly made an impact.
