In today’s times when the women are achieving and progressing in every field of life more than ever before; how do we feel when we see the character of Misha and the way it ended? On the contrary, Anaya has become an inspiration for young girls and women. The world is full of inspiring women whose passion, work and impact in their community encourage us to choose a specific field of study, follow a certain career path, and become economically empowered. We all know how female role models can have a great influence in advancing women’s economic empowerment.
The people have seemed to be in shock after seeing the consequence of the character Misha from Jalan, considering all her circumstances that were her sister stole her husband and postpartum depression; is it still justifiable to show a woman literally committing suiciding by setting herself on fire and leaving an infant behind despite of having supportive parents and education. Are there absolutely no other possibilities for a woman in this world to take care of herself and her newborn child without a father. Do we not understand the power of media and how strong of a medium it is in promoting messages? The managing editor of Something Haute tweeted:
Anaya from Sabaat has delivered a character of a lifetime for the women and girls of the country. How she stands strong despite her situations and fight through it all taking care of herself, her widowed mother and newly born son without any support. Her personality, brought up, mindset and ambition has given us so much to learn and look up to. Her decision-making, her self-respect, and the relationship that she shared with her parents has set an example for all of us. She has shown how a woman should carry herself in world now a days in every aspect life.
It is high time that the media and writers of Pakistan realizes that we need characters like Anaaya to inspire young women and come out of the rut of conventional and regressive characters and their tragic ends like Misha.
