“Mismatched” released on 20th November on Netflix
Mismatched is a Netflix series made in collaboration with RSVP Movies starring Rohit Saraf and the famous Youtuber and Vlogger Prajakta Koli.
What’s It about?
The main story revolves around an old-school 18-year-old guy Rishi Singh Shekhawat who is in search of his significant other through traditional means. Who wants that 60s love and romance, who isn’t interested in dating apps and matches made by them.
On the other hand, here is this 17-year-old geeky, ambitious Dimple Ahuja who wants to do a Ph.D. and make many apps, who is just very much into her career and wants to achieve all of her goals which does NOT include marriage or dating but is constantly disturbed by her Desi mother who is trying to tie her with someone.
Both of them are enrolled in a three-month-long computer coding course held in Jaipur. The students must have to prepare an app by the end of this course and the app must be somewhat unique and exceptional.
The Dilemma
And here comes the dilemma of the series, from where it took the start. Dimple’s mother set her up with Rishi without her consent and knowledge. She met Rishi at her course and was completely shocked.
Dimple and Rishi
They share a very cute, endearing, and sometimes platonic sometimes non-platonic relationship. Rohit Saraf did a great job portraying Rishi, from that old-school guy to an understanding guy he played it quite well. While on the contrary, Prajakta Koli amazingly delivered Dimple in the simplest way possible. There was a natural and real thing in the actors and their chemistry which made it a treat to watch.
The Individuality of characters
The main gripping force of the series is that every single character has their own unique individuality and story. Each one of them has their own life and troubles going on. All of the characters have amazing chemistry and did a great job portraying and delivering their own characters. It looked like it was made for them.
Why is “Mismatch” the perfect match for Gen Z
The light-hearted and blithe series just contains six short half-hour episodes which are really easy to watch and make it worth binge-watching. It encountered many Gen Z problems and difficulties, which most of the viewers can relate to. The diversity of characters and the rom-com is worth watching too. The dilemma Gen Z suffers of heart over head is perfectly described in the series. There are different spark and comfort levels in this series which is great for Gen Z especially.
