Netflix launches ‘Play Something’ Feature Globally
Netflix has been on the quest to reduce scrolling by ending the decision fatigue for months now. The creators of the product say that they have been testing the ‘Play Something’ feature for months now with a number of users for a while now but it hasn’t been successful. They believed that the users just weren’t ready for the feature.
At last, gone are the days when you scroll for hours on Netflix trying to find that perfect show or movie to watch. Netflix believes that the users are ready now. On Wednesday, Netflix launched a ‘Play Something’ feature for all its users. Which chooses a different show or movie for you that you haven’t watched before.
What does it mean?
Well, its quite simple you can end up with a entirely different show to cater to your test, something that’s been on your watch list for a while or just simply something different that you might actually enjoy.
How to use it?
Unlike its previous test versions, the feature won’t be available automatically. You’ll have to opt-in either at start-up or when you’re browsing your home page. When you do that, the page upon page of box art and descriptions disappears. The Netflix matrix chooses something it thinks you’ll be interested in watching, along with a description of why it chooses this certain show/movie.
It will also be available on the profile selection screen right under your name. You can also access it in the navigation menu on the left side of the screen. Play Something will also take over the tenth row on your Netflix homepage.
If you don’t like what it picked for you, you can simply skip and it will pick something else for you. The feature is available on all Netflix TV apps and will soon be made available on all android devices.
