Turkey’s owner of Akli films, Konuk has joined hands with Pakistan’s Ansari&Shah for this amazing project. In a special interview, Dr Junaid Ali Shah from Ansari-Shah films shared some amazing facts about Sultan Selhaddin, founder of the Ayyubid dynasty. All the questions that may come in your head as a fan have been answered.
Why did they chose Selahaddin Eyyubi out of all Muslim leaders?
Shah replied, that if you think about global, peace and harmony or people living peacefully under someone’s rule, it is hard to find an ideal ruler. Only Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Caliph Umar Farooq are two leaders who can fit this category. And the third, would be Sultan Selahaddin Eyyubi, who preached true Islam. He taught us how to live in harmony with other religions and cultures and preached ‘live and let live policy’. Eyyubi is that one character who is a favourite of not only Muslims but Jews and Christians as well. So he is a character of global fame.
What aspects of the ruler will the serial look at?
Shah detailed, we will show how kind and just he was. When he passed away, he did not have many belongings, although he was the greatest Sultan of his era. So he did not live for worldly things. Further, we will depict what our religion teaches us of tolerance, love and accepting others. The aim of the serial is to address the misconceptions of Islam in 104 episodes. Further, the goal is to share the real message of the religion that even in turbulent times you can still live with love, harmony and co-existence.
How many languages will be used in dubbing of the project?
The basic language will be Turkish. But it will be dubbed in English, Arabic and Urdu.
How will the costumes be created?
Turkish designers are responsible for the costumes, such as the Sultan’s helmet and swords.
Will parts of the serial be shot in Pakistan?
Yes, there is a strong possibility. The first season will be shot in Turkey, however, the second and third maybe shot in Pakistan. The idea is for both Pakistan and Turkish film industry to learn from each other.
