The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Holy Mosques agreed on Wednesday to reintroduce social separation for worshippers and umra performers at the two holy mosques, the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque. Social distance will be reintroduce in Saudi Arabia at the Grand Mosque.

Physical separation measures will be restore at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, according to a source in the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, starting at 7 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, the Saudi Press Agency said.

“Social distancing will be use among worshipers, and praying spaces and Umra performers will be re-distribute on the virtual tawaf (circumambulation) paths in a way that ensures the application of preventive measures in order to maintain the health and safety of visitors,” the statement added.
According to Arab News, all visitors to the two mosques should follow COVID protocols, which include wearing masks, adhering to the entrance timings, maintaining social distance, and following the directions of the officials operating in the Two Holy Mosques.
Saudi authorities lifted restrictions in October, enabling full capacity at the country’s two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah for individuals who have received all of the kingdom’s required vaccinations.
