A while ago Pakistanis had Dirilis: Ertugrul fever – a Turkish historical, Islamic and adventure fiction series. They binge watched the whole series and were mesmerized by their characters and dialogues to such an extent that it became the most watched drama in history of Pakistan.
Though this is not enough, the love for Turkey in Pakistanis heart is from ages. According to me, it was initiated with the beginning of the Pakistani morning show ‘Sunrise from Istanbul’. This morning show was hosted by Maria Wasti and was aired on See TV from Istanbul which used to take place on a boat in the midst of Bosporus strait.
Even this is not ample to understand the incomputable obsession of Turkey in Pakistan. It’s not only about the actors/actress or the drama and films but the country itself. Now let’s highlight all the reasons for the obsession of Turkey in Pakistanis heart.
As we all know that Turkey is partly located in Asia and partly in Europe. Therefore, the people of Turkey look both ‘desi’ and ‘angrez’. They are blonde as angrez yet have desi appearance. Hence, they are loved beyond borders.
These are some most loved and famous Turkish actor and actress.
Can Yaman:
Sorry to disappoint you but my favorite is Can Yaman and not Engin Altan. Can Yaman’s charming personality and dimple smile is enough to attract any female. He has done 6 dramas and his last drama Mr. Wrong along with the actress Ozge Gurel got so much popularity.
Ozge Gurel:
Ozge Gurel and Can Yaman’s chemistry was apparent in their first drama ‘Full moon’. Hence they did another series together just a while ago. This on-screen couple is the most beautiful and their bickering is the most sweet of all.
Burak Deniz:
No doubt Burak Deniz is one of the most loved actors. He is best known for his lead role in dramas ‘Pyar lafzon mein kahan’ and ‘hamari kahani’.
Hande Ercel:
She is one of the most followed actresses. Hande Ercel paired with Burak Deniz in their drama ‘Pyar lafzon mein kahan’ and entertained a huge audience with their sizzling chemistry.
Engin Altan:
Dirilis: Ertugrul fame Engin Altan is now the talk of the town. He is married and has 2 children.
Esra Bilgic:
So here is your Halima baji. She is beautiful yet delicate. The lead actress of the most popular drama of Muslim world Dirilis: Ertugrul.
Sukru Ozyildiz:
Sukru Ozyildiz is not only famous among drama series actor but he has also worked in various movies. His film ‘Cute and dangerous’ is one of my favorite films.
This is not sufficient. There are dozens of more Turkish actors and actresses that are popular in Pakistan. Namely, Hazal Kaya, Cagatay Ulusoy, Kivanc Tatlitug and so on.
Storyline in their drama & movies:
If you’re fan of Turkish dramas and movies, you’d probably know they’re better than Indian prolonged dramas, English overrated series and all those crying and surreal serials.
Whatever the genre of the drama or film might be yet they’re always hysterical. Most of them are romcom full of plot twists. The characters funny laugh and acting makes it more delightful.
Their beautiful cities and houses:
Turkey is such a beautiful country with so much to see for the tourist. It’s always in the bucket list of the people.
The largest city of Turkey- Istanbul is among the top 10 most beautiful cities of the world. Famous places like Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Bosphorus strait, all are in Istanbul.
I’ve never been to Turkey but I’ve seen so much of Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa, in dramas and films that I want to visit there at least once in my life.
The buildings huge houses with rich and modern furniture and swimming pools, hotels and their constructions is what I like the most and everyone else too.
Elif Shafak:
Elif Shafak is a Turkish-British writer, public speaker and women’s right activist. She is bestselling author of many books that includes ‘Forty rules of love’, ’10 minutes 38 seconds in this strange world’, ‘Bastard of Istanbul’ and many more.
Elif Shafak has portrayed Turkey, its culture and traditions in her novels in such astonishing manners that her novels reside in the soul of readers.
This is one of the reasons why Pakistanis love Turkey. They admire Turkish writers and their writings. And these people include just not me and you but our PM Imran Khan. Last week he recommended Pakistanis, Elif Shafak’s ‘Forty rules of love’.
Nemrah Ahmed and Istanbul:
Nemrah Ahmed is a famous Pakistani novelist. She has given masterpiece after masterpiece of her writing which includes ‘Jannat ke patte’, ‘Namal’, ‘Mus’haf’ and so on.
Just like Elif Shafak, Nemrah Ahmed in her novel ‘Jannat ke patte’ has depicted Turkey in such magnificent way that people have added Turkey in the tourism list. The portrayal of Istanbul- Bosporus Bridge, Taksim square in her novel is beyond amazing.
Final thoughts:
There’s no comparison of our Pakistan. Our culture and tradition, tourist places, film and television and everything else have my heart. But we look forward to be friends with our neighboring countries and Turkey is one of them, right?
We admire them and they admire us. As for now, we’re little too obsessed with Turkey. And why can’t? The whole world is the creation of Almighty Allah and we can see and admire any part of this world.
